Precision Non-Automatic Balance METTLER, Type H315 (c. 1980)
This precision laboratory balance, manufactured by the Swiss company Mettler (type H315), belongs to Accuracy Class I— the highest class for non-automatic weighing instruments according to international regulations.
Production of this model ended in 1985, but it remained in use for many years in laboratories and in weight-verification services.
Technical specifications
• Maximum capacity (Max): 1000 g
• Minimum capacity (Min): 10 mg
• Verification scale interval (e): 1 mg
• Actual scale interval (d): 0.1 mg
Thanks to its high sensitivity and stability, the balance was used for testing and verifying control weights up to 1 kg, such as the F1-class weights from the adjacent set.
Together they formed a metrological system for checking the accuracy of lower accuracy classes of scales and weights (F2, M1, and M2), which was the basis of everyday mass control in laboratories, industry, and trade.
In this way, the METTLER H315 balance and the F1 weights illustrate the traceability chain in mass measurement — from a precision laboratory instrument to industrial and commercial scales.
